Sea Shepherd

What drives Sea Shepherd

The oceans are fundamental to the health of our planet. They are full of fascinating creatures, many of which are still unexplored. At the same time, they are threatened due to overfishing, species extinction, climate change, and pollution; many animals die every day and habitats are destroyed. We want to change that. Sea Shepherd is an organization founded without any commercial or political interests and continues to work independently for the conservation of marine animals. The aim is for maximum impact with all our actions and campaigns.

What Sea Shepherd has going in 2023

We are currently engaging in direct action campaigns to defend, conserve, and protect the world’s oceans from illegal, unregulated, and undocumented fishing. Approximately 15–40% of the world's fishing is carried out illegally—without quotas, through harmful techniques, and often using slave labor. We want to put a permanent end to this industry.

How you become active with Sea Shepherd

As a volunteer, you can actively support and participate in land or sea campaigns or join the nearest Sea Shepherd chapter from home and support them at events or in public relations.
