In our film "The Power of Activism" we get to know three activists who are committed to environmental protection. The film shows that many small steps in different places can have a huge impact.
Would you like to contribute to environmental and marine protection yourself?
We encourage you to become actively engaged in ocean advocacy. As ocean ambassador Sylvia Earle says, "Saving the ocean is a team sport".
We are pleased to present twelve organizations that offer you ways you can take action for the preservation of the ocean and its inhabitants.

Ghost nets entangle fish and other marine life. We cut these abandoned fishing nets from wreckages at all depths from shallow water to >60 meters.
We support and promote research and educational projects that serve to protect the seas. We bring together decision makers from a wide range of sectors to work together for ocean conservation.
Our objective is to educate and create awareness in the younger generation of the importance of intact oceans. We are particularly committed to the protection of sharks.
We are committed to removing large amounts of plastic from rivers and streams. With our trash collection vessels, we remove tons of garbage from waterways all over the world.
We take action against ocean pollution and work to ensure that endangered marine animals have a future. For example, with our 'Save Moby' project, we are focusing on protecting sperm whales in the eastern Mediterranean.
Our vision is a harmonized balance between people and the ocean. To achieve this, we advocate for the expansion of marine protected areas and the protection of endangered marine species, among other initiatives.
We support projects that advocate for the protection of marine ecosystems. We also carry out environmental education work—for example, in the form of training camps—in order to raise awareness among children of the importance of an intact ecosystem.
We are committed to stopping illegal fishing worldwide. 15–40% of the world's fishing is illegal. We want to permanently end this industry.
Our ultimate goal is intact shark populations worldwide. At the top of the food chain, sharks hold the ecological balance together, and we are committed to protecting these unique animals.
We are committed to preserving clean lakes, rivers, oceans, and coasts. To do this, we work on a variety of campaigns, including Ocean Friendly Restaurants and worldwide beach cleanups through the Better Beach Alliance.
Our ultimate goal is clean drinking water for all. Through various projects around the world, we work to provide people with a sustainable and secure supply of clean water.
We are the world's leading NGO dedicated exclusively to the protection of whales and dolphins. Through campaigning, political persuasion, education, and research, we work to ensure that whales and dolphins can live in freedom and safety.
